Creatinine

Creatinine - the end product of creatine phosphate reaction. Creatinine is produced in the muscle and subsequently released into the blood . Creatinine is involved in energy metabolism in muscle and other tissues. Creatinine excreted in the urine excreted by the kidneys , therefore creatinine ( the amount in the blood) - an important indicator of renal activity .
The content of creatinine in the blood depends on the amount of muscle mass , however the rate for males creatinine is typically higher than in women. Since the amount of muscle tissue does not change quickly , the level of creatinine in the blood - the value sufficiently constant.
Norma serum creatinine :
Women : 44.0-80.0 mmol / l;
Men : 62.0-106.0 mmol / l;
Children under 1 year: 18-35 mmol / L ;
Children from 1 to 14 years: 27-62 mmol / l .
Daily excretion of creatinine in the urine :
men : 8,8-17,7 mmol ( 1.0-2.0 g )
women : 7,1-15,9 mmol ( 0.8-1.8 g )
High creatinine - plentiful component meat diet (if elevated in blood and urine) , renal insufficiency (if only increased in the blood) . Creatinine level increases with dehydration , muscle damage exertion. Low level observed with reduced consumption of meat , vegetarian diet and fasting , in I and II trimesters of pregnancy . High creatinine level may indicate an increased risk of contrast-induced nephropathy in rengenokontrastnyh studies
